Environment Canada issues heat and thunderstorm warnings in Quebec

By The Canadian Press

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for southern Quebec starting Sunday afternoon.

The agency warns that the humidex will reach around 40 in Montreal as well as in the regions of Montérégie, Laurentides, Lanaudière, and Mauricie.

The warning suggests planning your day around milder periods.

It is also suggested to hydrate regularly, use air conditioners and fans, and move indoors to cooler spaces to avoid heatstroke.

If you suspect that you or a loved one may be experiencing heat illness, Environment Canada advises calling emergency services.

A warning of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes expected Saturday evening has also been issued for Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
