Montreal police arrest Lory Bill Germa, convicted murderer that escaped prison in early July

By News Staff

Montreal police have arrested a 69-year-old convicted murderer that escaped from a prison in Quebec’s Laurentians earlier this month.

Correctional Service Canada posted to social media Friday saying that Lory Bill Germa was apprehended by SPVM officers, after being on the run for about 20 days.

On July 5, Germa was not present during an inmate count at the minimum-security unit of the Archambault prison, north of Montreal, where he has been serving a first-degree murder sentence.

Montreal police say they arrested Germa on Friday in connection to two robberies that occurred in the Ville-Marie borough on July 19 and 22nd — and he now faces charges of robbery.

Germa is being returned to the Archambault institution where he’ll be once again taken into custody.

Germa is the second convicted killer to escape from Archambault in recent weeks
