A 50-year-old worker has died after a tree fell on him in Dorval.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a call at around 10:40 a.m. regarding the incident on Brookhaven Avenue near Carson Avenue.

“At the scene, police officers and paramedics from Urgences-santé assisted a man in his 50s who has significant injuries,” said SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin on Wednesday afternoon.

The man was then transported to hospital in an unconscious state, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to initial information, the SPVM said that the incident appears to have been a work accident that occurred in a private entrance of a residence.

The SPVM added that they are assisting investigators from the Quebec workers’ health and safety board (CNESST) in the case.

CityNews reached out to the CNESST and they said inspectors have been dispatched to examine the scene in order to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident but would not comment further on the incident to “not to hinder the progress of the investigation.”
