Boil water advisory lifted for City of Boucherville, Vieux-Longueuil borough

The City of Longueuil has lifted the boil water advisory for the City of Boucherville and the remaining parts of the Vieux-Longueuil borough.

The announcement came Friday evening, several hours after the City of Longueuil removed the water ban for Longueuil and Boucherville.

The water ban was issued on Thursday afternoon following two water main breaks.

Part of Jacques-Cartier Blvd. East in Longueuil was closed to traffic for most of the day Thursday due to the water main break, which caused a “major” leak. The boulevard was closed in both directions between Jean-Paul-Vincent Blvd. and du Tremblay Rd. – lasting until about 4 p.m.

The city started excavation and repair work late Thursday afternoon and on Friday morning, they confirmed to CityNews that the repair was been completed – and the water cleared from the street.

The City of Longueuil says that residents don’t need to take any special measures now that the water ban has been lifted, however, it is recommended that all cold water taps should be run for a few minutes, including emptying, washing and disinfecting ice machines, and flushing out garden hoses and outdoor taps.
