Longueuil lifts preventative boil water advisory

The City of Longueuil is lifting its precautionary boil water advisory.

The boil water advisory, which began Saturday night, was in effect for the Greenfield Park borough and Le Moyne sector, and for the cities of Brossard and Saint-Lambert.

The city says it lifted it after “the results of recent analyses carried out on the network are compliant with the norms.”

It was implemented de to planned maintenance at the Le Royer water plant, on Riverside Street in Saint-Lambert. The work consists of replacing valves and inspecting a main line at the outlet of the plant.

The work is essential to guarantee the reliability of the network and secure the water supply, the city says. Officials add the city will also replace a flow meter to meet the requirements requested by the Government of Quebec as part of the Drinking Water Conservation Strategy, among others.

This work also involved reversing the flow of water in major pipes that can alter water quality, requiring the issuance of the preventive boil water advisory.
