Minor arrested for attempted murder after stabbing near Laval movie theater

Laval police (SPL) announced that a 16-year-old was arrested yesterday morning in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred last week in the Chomedey neighborhood, near a movie theater.
Investigators from the Crimes Against Persons squad arrested the young man who now faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
“He remains in custody following his court appearance,” the SPL said in a news release. “His case will return to the Youth Division of the Court of Quebec in the coming weeks.”
A 19-year-old was hospitalized after an armed assault outside of Laval’s Colossus movie theatre on the evening of Sept. 21.
At around 9:55 p.m., the SPL received a 911 call regarding the stabbing.
Upon arrival, the 19-year-old man was found at the scene with serious stab wounds.
“At the time of the incident, the 19-year-old victim had been rushed to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries,” the SPL said. “His condition has since stabilized. The suspect had already fled the scene before emergency services arrived.”
