18-year-old in critical condition after collision with a pole in RDP

A 18-year-old man is in critical condition after a collision in which his vehicle struck a pole in Montreal overnight.

According to Montreal Police (SPVM), the event occurred around 12:10 a.m. on Perras Blvd., near 54th Ave., in Rivière-des-Prairies.

For reasons still unknown, the vehicle struck a pole. No other cars were reportedly involved in the incident.

The two young men who were in the vehicle, both 18 years old, had to be taken to the hospital.

Having suffered serious upper body injuries, the driver of the vehicle is still fighting for his life. The passenger, however, is reportedly out of danger.

The route taken by the vehicle before hitting the pole remains unknown, according to police, who have set up a security perimeter around the scene of the accident in order to conduct their investigation.
