Two fatal collisions days apart on same Saint-Lazare road

A 73-year-old woman has died after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Saint-Lazare, Que.

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) say the crash happened around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Bédard Avenue and Sainte-Angélique Road, in the town west of Montreal. The woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later passed away from her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, also a woman, was treated at the scene for shock. Investigators are still examining the circumstances surrounding the collision. So far, no charges have been filed.

Another Fatal Incident Nearby

This marks the second pedestrian death on Bédard Ave. in less than a week.

On Saturday evening, a 35-year-old woman was fatally struck about 2.5 kilometres away, near Saint-Louis Road. She was taken to hospital in critical condition but did not survive.

At first, police treated the case as a possible hit-and-run, but investigators now say they are exploring all possible explanations.

The driver involved has yet to be identified.
