3 Quebec men charged for trafficking cocaine internationally

Three men from Quebec have been charged in connection with an international cocaine trafficking network, according to the RCMP.

Mounties say 38-year-old Mathieu Provost from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and 30-year-old Ysmael Rodrigues Da Costa from Brossard have been charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and to possess cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The third man, 28-year-old Ahmad Ebad Ebadi from Carignan, was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The charges stem from an investigation that began in 2022, where it is believed that the men had conspired to smuggle drugs into Quebec from Peru.

All three are expected to appear in court in Lougueuil on Tuesday.

RCMP also notes that two other Canadians — Frédéric Dewald and Francis Toupin-Bergevin — have already been found guilty of trafficking cocaine by the National Police of Peru in a parallel investigation.
