Fire in Montreal’s Little Burgundy under control: SIM

The Montreal fire department (SIM) says a four-alarm fire broke out in the city’s Little Burgundy neighbourhood Friday.

It happened in a residential building at the intersections of Dominion Street and Duvernay Road – and six units were affected.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters received a call at 11:52 a.m. about the blaze, according to Émilie Barbeau-Charlebois, division chief for SIM.

The intervention was still underway as of 1:30 p.m. with over 100 firefighters on the scene and a drone also being used – but the fire was under control.

Power was cut in the area amid the intervention for safety reasons.

Barbeau-Charlebois says the cause of the fire is still not known.
