A series about Celine Dion’s family is in development.
The Quebec diva’s brother, Jacques Dion, confirmed the information on Thursday, which circulated on the “Deadline” website.
However, Dion made it clear in a message to The Canadian Press that the series was not only about his famous sister, but especially about their mother, Thérèse Tanguay-Dion, who passed away in 2020.
Celine Dion’s modest childhood in Charlemagne, north of Montreal, is well known. Thérèse Tanguay and Adhémar Dion had fourteen children, many of whom had careers in music. Céline, Jacques and Thérèse Dion wrote together the song that propelled her career in Quebec: “Ce n’était qu’un rêve”.
The series is produced by Dion and also includes the participation of Jimmy Dion, the singer’s nephew. British-American screenwriter Zoë Green is also involved; her agency Curtis Brown mentions in her biography that she is working on a series about the Dion family.
Jacques Dion could not say more for the moment, especially on the planned release date.
Celine Dion is currently preparing to return to the stage in Paris. The singer, who suffers from stiff person syndrome, has not been on stage since 2020. She will offer several concerts at Paris La Défense Arena this fall.
She made her comeback in 2024, to offer a striking performance of “L’hymne à l’amour” at the Paris Olympic Games ceremony.
