2 people injured in stabbings in downtown Montreal

Two armed assaults, in which a 16-year-old teenager and a 36-year-old man were injured, occurred Tuesday evening in downtown Montreal. According to police, the two incidents are not believed to be related.
Early in the evening, a 36-year-old man was first found lying in a pool of blood, seriously injured by a sharp weapon, on De Bullion Street, near René-Lévesque Boulevard, in the Ville-Marie borough.

The man, who was conscious and breathing when police arrived, was transported to the hospital. On Wednesday morning, medical authorities still considered his condition to be “serious.”
Then, around 10:15 p.m., a 16-year-old teenager was injured in the “upper body” by a sharp object at the intersection of Dorchester Square and Peel streets, in the same borough.
The teenager also had to be taken to the hospital due to “serious injuries,” but his life is not believed to be in danger.
The Montreal police (SPVM) have launched an investigation into both incidents, but as of early Wednesday, the circumstances remained unknown.
“According to preliminary information, these two incidents are not believed to be related,” said Manuel Couture, SPVM spokesperson.
No arrests have been made at this time in either case.
