Police investigate third arson attempt at Saint-Michel restaurant

Montreal police are investigating a third arson attempt at an at a restaurant on Jean-Talon Street near 22nd Avenue in Montreal’s Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension borough.

The SPVM received a 911 call at around 4 a.m. reporting a fire at a business in the area.

The building has residential units above the commercial space. Officials ensured all residents were safe.

Firefighters were dispatched and worked to bring the blaze under control.

No injuries were reported.

The restaurant was previously targeted in two suspected arson incidents in the span of two days, with citizens helping extinguish a fire on Aug. 30 and Aug. 31.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
