Nearly a quarter of Quebecers have voted in advanced polling

Nearly a quarter of Quebecers have cast their ballots ahead of the Oct. 5 provincial election.

A total of 24.56 per cent of Quebecers voted in advance polling, according to figures released by Elections Quebec on Wednesday.

Among Quebec’s electoral districts, Louis-Hébert in the Capitale-Nationale recorded the highest turnout, with 39 per cent of voters casting their ballots early.

Ungava, the most northern provincial electoral district in Quebec, recorded the lowest voter turnout at 8.31 per cent.

The percentages include voting since advanced polling began.

Advance voting began Sunday at select polling stations. Earlier voting at the offices of returning officers took place Friday and Saturday. Students at participating institutions were also able to vote on campus Friday.

On Oct. 5, polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
