Two vehicles were reportedly set on fire in less than an hour in Montreal’s Saint-Leonard overnight. Police say they are working to determine if the incidents are related, but nothing was confirmed as of Thursday morning.

The two vehicles, a minivan and a car, were set on fire shortly after 1 a.m.

The first incident occurred in the private driveway of a residence on Viau Blvd., near Jonquet Street, while the second took place on de Ligneris Street, near Metropolitan Blvd.

In both cases, witnesses reported seeing suspects set fire to the vehicles before fleeing.

The Montreal Police (SPVM) arson unit will lead the investigation into both cases.

“The investigation is ongoing, and at this point, it is still too early to make a connection between these two arsons,” said Officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

Both vehicles were towed for analysis. The SPVM reported no injuries in connection with these events.
