Laval police seek witnesses after car crash sets fire to a bank

A late-night crash in Laval this summer left a bank in flames, and police are still looking for those responsible.

The Laval Police Service (SPL) is asking the public for help identifying witnesses to a dangerous driving incident that occurred on July 25, 2025, which led to a fire at a financial institution in the Saint-François neighbourhood.

According to police, multiple 911 calls were made around 12:50 a.m. after a vehicle crashed into a National Bank branch located at 1295 du Moulin Ave. By the time officers arrived, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames, and the fire had spread to the structure.

Preliminary information indicates the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

The police service’s investigation determined the vehicle involved, a grey Volkswagen Jetta, had been speeding eastbound on Marcel-Villeneuve Blvd. before crashing head-on into the bank. Witnesses also reported seeing two people running from the area immediately after the collision.

Specialized investigators and forensic teams have since returned to the site to reconstruct the incident and cross-check information gathered over the summer.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle before the crash, seen the occupants flee, or captured photos or videos of the incident to contact the Info-Police line at 450-662-INFO (4636) and reference file number LVL-250725-009.

The police service continues to rely on the public’s assistance to identify those involved.
