Montreal-Mexico ‘party plane’ passengers fined

By News Staff

Six passengers from the infamous chartered Sunwing flight from Montreal to Mexico in December were issued fines from Transport Canada – and more are expected.

They were fined for not being fully vaccinated when they boarded the flight from Montreal to Cancun on Dec. 30, according to a release from Transport Canada on Tuesday. The maximum fines are $5,000 per person.

All passengers above the age of 12 must be fully vaccinated to board passenger flights, trains and cruise ships in Canada – that came into effect Nov. 30.

There have been no fines issued for the behaviour reportedly seen on the flight through video posts on social media of maskless travellers, vaping, and drinking from full bottles of alcohol, dancing and standing on seats.
