A low-pressure system bringing snow and wind is moving into Quebec starting Thursday evening and will last until Saturday, according to Environment Canada.
Those living in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil-Varennes and the Châteauguay-La Prairie area are expected to be affected.
The storm is expected to bring significant amounts of snowfall and strong winds over areas north of the Saint Lawrence River.
On the south side of the river, freezing rain is likely to occur. The amount of rainfall is still not known.
Storm surges could affect parts of Quebec City as of Friday, according to the weather authority.
People are being advised to keep monitoring the weather updates throughout the weekend and plan their holiday travel accordingly as road conditions are likely to be difficult with risks of power outages as well.
