Funeral for former Quebec international relations minister Nadine Girault

By The Canadian Press

A final tribute was paid on Saturday to former CAQ minister Nadine Girault, who died at the age of 63 from lung cancer last month.

Her funeral was held in private at Les Espaces Memoria, in Laval.

Quebec Premier François Legault was expected to attend the funeral.

Elected MP for Bertrand in the Laurentians in 2018, Girault was minister of international relations and la francophonie, as well as of immigration, francisation and integration, during the first term of the Legault government.

Last July, Girault announced she would not be in the running for the October 2022 elections due to her state of health.

Before entering politics with the CAQ, Girault held management positions, notably at the Royal Bank, the Bank of Montreal and at Desjardins, in addition to having sat on several boards of directors.
