Fire near Jacques-Cartier bridge – third blaze in Montreal Wednesday morning

It’s a very busy morning for Montreal firefighters as a third fire burned in the Saint-Marie district.

The fire sending large amounts of dark smoke to the sky, which caused visibility problems on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.

The fire broke out around 9 a.m. in a container outside the building under construction at 1000 Fullum, near Sainte-Catherine street East.

Workers were evacuated and no one injured.

Firefighters are still on the scene near there in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve where are some 50 residents in the area needed to be evacuated due to a fire in a three-story building.

An arson attack also heavily damaged a downtown building around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday morning. There may still be some impacts on traffic.
