Work begins on new Saint-Hubert airport terminal

By News Staff

The construction of a new terminal at Saint-Hubert airport, on Montreal’s South Shore, began Wednesday.

The new terminal will have nine boarding gates and a hotel. The $200-million project – a private investment by Porter Airlines – is expected to be operational midway through 2025.

It’s part of the Longueuil airport’s bid to become a hub for Canadian commercial flights – with links to major Canadian cities and up to 10 domestic flights daily.

The 21,000 square-metre building is expected to handle more than four million passengers a year.

Nearby will be a 130-room Holiday Inn hotel, also part of the construction project.

The early phase of the work is preparatory; the next phase will be excavation and levelling of the land.

The project, which was announced in February, is expected to create more than 500 permanent jobs.
