Fire breaks out above Saint-Laurent Blvd. grocery store

A fire broke out overnight at the Vieille Europe specialty grocery store on Saint-Laurent Blvd. – on Montreal’s Plateau.

At around 2:30 a.m. Friday, some 30 firefighters were dispatched to the scene where the fire started on the second floor of the building.

Flames were brought under control a few hours later.

Saint-Laurent Blvd. was closed for some time to allow the fire department to do their work.

The cause of the in incident remains unknown.
