Record number of potholes reported in Montreal

By News Staff

The City of Montreal’s 311 service line received 2,328 reports of potholes across the island in January and February alone.

That’s 900 more reports than the same time last year.

Drivers have encountered more potholes due to the fluctuation in weather this year.

These are the highest number of reports for them since 2019, where they received 3,669.

According to CAA-Quebec, changing a tire can cost $70 to $400 and replacing the suspension can be anywhere from $150 to more than $350.

In January, the City of Montreal launched an emergency pothole repair blitz, with eight repair trucks on the roads – filling over 3,500 potholes daily.

Last year, 110,000 potholes were filled in Montreal.

Montreal is investing more than $840 million, as of this year, for planning and surfacing – over the next 10 years.

Montrealers can report potholes whenever they see them.
