A head-on collision between a school bus carrying teenagers and a vehicle left one person dead in Coteau-du-Lac, in the Montérégie on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 7 p.m. on Route 201, near Dupont Street.
According to Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Laurie Avoine, the bus, which was traveling southbound, collided with the vehicle traveling northbound.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Several teenagers were on the bus and four of them were taken to hospital with what was described as minor injuries. The bus driver reportedly suffered no injuries.
The SQ also indicated that a collision investigation will be carried out to determine the causes and circumstances of the event and that Route 201 is closed to traffic.
SQ spokesperson says probable cause of accident is slippery roads, but nothing is confirmed yet.
