Driver who allegedly struck pedestrian in Montreal North died after fight with witness: Police investigate possible road rage

A 67-year-old driver who allegedly hit a pedestrian has died after authorities report that the person was beaten by a 35-year old man who he possibly had road rage with moments prior to the incident in Montreal North.

It all happened Tuesday morning at around 11:30 a.m., at the corner of Gouin Blvd. East and Garon Ave.

“Following what we have right now, it seems like the 67-year old man and the 35-year old man they had both a conflict, like a road rage, just prior to the 67-year-old man hitting a pedestrian,” the SPVM told CityNews.

“Yesterday we thought that (the 35-year old) was just a witness, somebody passing by,” they added. “But what we know so far is that there was a conflict before.”

According to Montreal police (SPVM), a pedestrian was hit by the car – but the victim did not suffer serious injuries during the impact.

A 35-year-old witness to the scene approached to yell at the driver – who then got out of his vehicle to confront the witness.

The two then began to fight and at some point, the 67-year-old man collapsed.

SPVM say the reason for the driver’s collapse is still unknown.
