22-year-old man dies in Montreal collision

A 22-year-old man died Friday evening after a collision in the LaSalle borough of Montreal.

According to the Montreal Police (SPVM), the driver may have lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.

Around 7 p.m., emergency services were called regarding a collision. When police arrived, paramedics were already assisting the occupants of the crashed vehicle. SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle and, despite serious injuries, his life is not in danger.

According to the SPVM, the car was traveling “at high speed” on Saint-Patrick Street heading west, near the intersection of Irwin Street.

Chèvrefils indicated that witnesses to the event were met by the police and that “checks will be made on possible surveillance cameras located near the scene.”
