A vehicle was set on fire in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough early Monday morning.

Montreal police (SPVM) said that they received several 911 calls around 3:40 a.m. about a burning vehicle parked on Doherty Avenue near Chester Avenue.

“When police arrived on the scene, they located the burning vehicle,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a SPVM spokesperson. “The Montreal fire department also arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire.”

“The car is a total loss,” she added. “There was no damage to the property.”

The vehicle was towed for examination, and no arrests have been made so far.

“Certain elements at the scene suggest that the fire was criminal in nature,” added Chèvrefils.

An investigation is ongoing from the SPVM’s arson unit.
