Some 80 firefighters were deployed to a suspicious fire at a residential building in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:20 a.m., Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call regarding a fire in the apartment building at the corner of Frigon and Charles Gill streets.
According to initial information, the SPVM said that a suspect was seen throwing an object towards the building and fled before police arrived.
Residents of the building were evacuated and the Montreal fire department (SIM) was already handling the fire once police arrived.
“Three families were relocated,” Anik Vaillancort, a spokesperson for the SIM, told CityNews. “Relocated and supported by the Red Cross.”
No arrests have been made so far, and no injuries were reported.
The case has been handed over to the SPVM arson squad.
