Montreal Canadiens unveil new center-ice logo: tribute to history & market legacy

By News Staff

Known for their rich history and loyal fan base, the Canadiens’ new center-ice logo at the Montreal Bell Centre pays homage to their past while incorporating their current identity.

On Wednesday, the Habs unveiled the new center-ice logo and the full-coulour, 3D-styled design, is set to make its debut to fans at the Prospect Showdown on Sept. 13-14.

“Opponents at the Bell Centre will be seeing red from the moment the puck drops this season,” the Montreal Canadiens said in a press release.

“The design sees the entire surface area of the central face-off circle filled in with red,” they added. “Replacing the single oversized Canadiens logo that had been in place since 2018.”

Other featured elements:

  • 1909: The year the team was founded, referencing over 100 years of history while still keeping things new.
  • Canadiens de Montréal: The team’s official name in French, underscoring its unique NHL roots, and the official language of Quebec.
  • Embossed circle: Inspired by the overhead view of the Stanley Cup, 24 grooves along the edge reference the team’s record 24 championships.
  • Dominant red colour: The team’s home jersey color, alluding to the best home ice advantage in the NHL.

Tickets for the Prospect Showdown games start at just $10 and are available here.
