2 Air Canada employees arrested in connection with drug trafficking at Montreal-Trudeau Airport

Two Air Canada employees were arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in connection with the trafficking of cocaine and cannabis from Montreal-Trudeau Airport.
According to the RCMP investigation, the two suspects — who worked in ground operations at Air Canada — allegedly participated in a “conspiracy to introduce and move luggage into secure areas of the airport to facilitate the importation of cocaine and the exportation of cannabis.”
On Wednesday morning, the RCMP conducted searches at two homes and a vehicle in the Greater Montreal area, as well as at the “airline employees’ base of operations” in Dorval.
The investigation began last May after 62.5 kg of cocaine were intercepted in backpacks on a flight from Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic. The RCMP states that 56 kg of cannabis were also seized during the investigation.
The arrested employees will be questioned and released while the investigation continues, the RCMP said.
“Analysis of the evidence collected could lead to further arrests and charges,” the RCMP stated.
