Laval lines up with Rocket for 52nd annual blood drive

In hockey, every line change can shift the momentum of a game, but off the ice, the City of Laval and the Laval Rocket are teaming up once again for a different kind of victory — one that saves lives.

The 52nd annual Laval residents’ blood drive will take place Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Place Bell, with a goal of collecting 550 blood donations in a single day.

Organized in collaboration with Héma-Québec, the event brings together residents, Rocket players, and city officials in a united show of community spirit.

Blood drive returns to Place Bell

Running from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the event invites residents to donate blood in a friendly, supportive environment. Both walk-ins and appointments are welcome, though organizers encourage people to book in advance online or by phone.

“With the Laval Rocket and Héma-Québec as linemates, we have everything we need to score goals and win for those who rely on blood donations,” said Laval Mayor Stéphane Boyer. “The Laval residents’ blood drive is an opportunity to demonstrate valuable and exceptional community involvement. To welcome donors who wish to make this vital gesture, Place Bell will be specially designed to make their visits enjoyable.”

Donors will have the opportunity to meet Rocket players and local elected officials, all while contributing to a critical cause.

Rocket coach calls for community support

For Laval Rocket head coach Pascal Vincent, this year’s blood drive is personal. He attended last year’s event and said he was inspired by the level of engagement from fans and residents alike.

“The organization of the Laval Rocket is proud to team up with the City and Héma-Québec once again this year. Having experienced my first Laval residents’ blood drive last season, I can say that our fans, as well as many donors, were present,” said Vincent. “Each donation is crucial, because we all know someone who, sooner or later, will need this precious gift. Come together to meet us — the team and I — at Place Bell on November 4.”

Héma-Québec reminds public: every donation counts

Most healthy adults are eligible to donate blood.

Héma-Québec stresses that blood is a shared, vital resource — and maintaining supply depends on community participation.

“Blood is a precious resource, available to everyone at all times — and it is everyone’s responsibility to contribute,” said Sylvain Lauzé, donor recruitment advisor at Héma-Québec. “With or without an appointment, come together to save lives. Every donation counts.”

How to donate

Appointments can be made online or by calling 1-800-343-7264. Donors can check their eligibility on the website under Donors > Blood > Can I give?, or speak to a representative at 1-800-847-2525.

For those without an appointment, on-site registration will be available throughout the day at Place Bell.

The Laval residents’ blood drive is made possible through the collaboration of the City of Laval, Héma-Québec and the Laval Rocket. More details can be found online by clicking here.
