Charles-De Gaulle Bridge to see lane closures over coming weekend

The new year is often when people look to make changes in their life, but that will not be the case for Montreal roads, as Transport Quebec says that Highway 40 at the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge will see lane closures over the coming weekend.
Officials say that between 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, and 4 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, one of three lanes along Highway 40, between Gouin Boulevard East in Montreal and Route 344 (Saint-Charles Road), will be closed.
Additionally, some lanes might be slightly narrower than normal, and the speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h in both directions during this time.
The closure is to allow for repair work to be conducted on the bridge.
Transport Quebec also says that the construction site might be subject to police surveillance, and a speed camera will be installed to ensure the safety of workers.
Traffic congestion is to be expected, and drivers are being advised to look at Québec 511 to plan their trip. Additionally, road work may be postponed due to adverse weather.
