Quebec Votes 2026: New poll shows 60% of voters want change as PQ holds its lead

With the election campaign in full swing, a new voter intention poll shows 60 per cent of Quebecers want a change in whom they want to lead the province for the next four years, despite a rebound seen by the incumbent Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) under Christine Fréchette.
The new poll by Léger–Le Journal–TVA released Tuesday also revealed more voters making up their mind and choices solidifying ahead of the election day Oct. 5.
The Parti Québécois (PQ) maintained its lead with 29 per cent of voters throwing their support, with the CAQ and the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) closely behind with 23 per cent and 22 per cent. About 15 per cent of voters favoured the Quebec Conservative Party (PCQ), while 10 per cent said they would vote for Québec solidaire (QS).
CAQ Leader Fréchette and PQ Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon were tied at 23 per cent for the leader who would make the best premier.
That’s a five percentage point jump for Fréchette compared to last month, with nearly a quarter of voters crediting the premier for the best campaign rollout and for her ability to handle the U.S-Canada trade war and the economy.
St-Pierre Plamondon led on immigration issues with 25 per cent of voters saying he was best positioned to handle that file.
The results were based on an online survey of 1,008 eligible Quebec voters between Sept. 4 and 6. Results were weighted by age, gender, mother tongue, region, education and presence of children in the household. For comparison purposes, a probability sample of this size would have a maximum margin of error of ±3.09%, 19 times out of 20.
