École de technologie supérieure to deploy aerospace activities in Longueuil

By The Canadian Press

LONGUEUIL – The École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) has announced its intention to set up operations in Longueuil, for the first time outside its downtown Montreal campus.

In a press release issued on Friday, the ÉTS explains that it is responding to a need expressed by the Quebec government to take its cooperative teaching model and collaborative research with industry elsewhere in the province.

For its aerospace project in Longueuil, ÉTS will be able to count on partners such as the École nationale d’aérotechnique (ÉNA) and the Centre technologique en aérospatiale (CTA), both affiliated with Cégep Édouard-Montpetit.

The Director General and CEO of the École de technologie supérieure, François Gagnon, believes that the arrival of ÉTS in Longueuil and the presence of its partners will strengthen the training and research ecosystem to form a pole of excellence combining college and university training, research and innovation in aerospace.

Longueuil’s mayor, Catherine Fournier, believes that the arrival of an institution like ÉTS is a strong signal of Longueuil’s positioning as a major academic hub, with university and college post-secondary institutions, as well as research centers.

The École de technologie supérieure has over 70 industrial partners supporting projects in materials and advanced manufacturing, avionics and control, as well as design and optimization.
