Alleged accomplice to Montreal billionaire Robert Miller arrested, charged with 10 sex-related charges

Raymond Poulet, an alleged accomplice of Montreal billionaire Robert Miller, was arrested and charged Friday and is accused of helping organize a sexual exploitation network.

Poulet was charged with 10 counts, including procuring minors, sexual assault and touching a child under the age of 14. The 76-year-old is accused of having committed the crimes dating back to 1995, involving three minors.

He was released on the promise to appear at the Montreal courthouse at a later date, with conditions to be met, according to a press release from Montreal police. The investigation concerning Poulet remains ongoing, police say.

Poulet’s LinkedIn says that he is a private advisor to Robert Miller, but shows no photo of him.

This comes as the Quebec Court of Appeal overturn a March 2024 Superior Court ruling dismissing an $8 million sexual assault civil lawsuit against Miller.

The plaintiff claimed that for several years starting at the age of 17 she had been the victim of a sexual exploitation network targeting underage girls set up and operated by Miller and his associates.

The Superior Court had ruled that she could not pursue the lawsuit because she had accepted $50,000 during a meeting with Miller’s lawyer.

By overturning the ruling, the plaintiff now has the right to sue Miller.

A criminal case against the 81-year-old came to a halt last month after a Quebec Superior Court judge stayed charges, saying that his Parkinson’s disease was too advanced for Miller to stand trial.

He faced 24 sex-related charges involving 11 women.

In January, a Quebec Superior Court judge authorized a separate class-action lawsuit against Miller over allegation he paid minors for sex.
