Crown prosecutors have acknowledged that Montreal billionaire Robert Miller is too ill to stand trial.
Prosecutor Delphine Mauger explained to reporters that a trial was impossible because it is clear the octogenarian is gravely ill and will not recover.
The founder of global electronics distributor Future Electronics was arrested last year on 21 sexually-related charges involving 10 female complainants.
Many of them were minors when the alleged acts occurred between 1994 and 2016.
Miller’s lawyers requested a stay of execution in April, arguing that their client was unfit to stand trial due to Parkinson’s disease.
A Quebec Superior Court judge is expected to rule on the request Tuesday.
