18-year-old motorcyclist dies after collision in Estrie

An 18-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday evening after failing to comply with a mandatory stop sign and colliding with a car in Roxton Pond, in the Eastern Townships.
The accident occurred around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Route 139 and 3rd Rang, explained Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
According to initial reports, the motorcyclist, who was riding in the third lane, did not make his mandatory stop when crossing the intersection.
He then collided with a car. The 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 20s, was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
A police officer trained in collision investigations attended the scene to analyze the scene.
The vehicles were also seized for forensic examination. The investigation is still ongoing.
