Person pepper sprayed during armed robbery at Montreal’s South Shore jewelry store

Police on Montreal’s South Shore are investigating after a person was pepper sprayed during an armed robbery at a shopping mall Tuesday evening.

Longueuil police (SPAL) were called around 5:30 p.m. to Promenades Saint-Bruno in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville following reports of a hold-up at Bijouterie Lavigueur.

According to police, several suspects entered the jewelry store, stole multiple pieces of merchandise and fled the scene on foot.

One person inside the store was exposed to cayenne pepper during the robbery and was treated at the scene by paramedics. No other injuries were reported.

A security perimeter was set up around the mall as officers, including a K-9 unit, searched the area for the suspects.

Police say investigators will analyze the scene and review evidence as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the robbery. The suspects have not yet been located.
