SQ investigates possible 7th femicide in Quebec after woman dies in Saint-Jérôme

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating the suspicious death of a woman in a residence in Saint-Jérôme, in the Laurentians.
Danielle Lascelles, 67, was found in her apartment on De la Résidence Street in Saint-Jérôme.

In a Facebook post, Lascelles’ brother Benoit announcing her death, wrote, “It is with sadness that I inform you of a terrible tragedy.” He added that Lascelles had lost her son recently.
On Saturday, SQ to La Presse Canadienne, that Saint-Jérôme police officers were called to the scene late Friday afternoon.
“At the scene, police officers discovered an unconscious woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene,” according to Laurie Avoine, SQ spokesperson.
The identity of the man who was at the scene has not been released.
“A man who was at the scene was taken to a hospital. He will be interviewed by investigators when his condition allows,” Avoine said.
The man was arrested and was in police custody as of Monday afternoon.
The SQ investigation is ongoing, and there is also a coroner’s investigation.
