By The Canadian Press and News Staff

A coroner’s report confirms Quebec director and producer Jean-Marc Vallée died of natural causes on Dec. 25 at his cabin outside Quebec City. He was 58.

The director’s family shared the coroner’s findings on Wednesday.

More specifically, the report concluded that Vallée succumbed to a “fatal cardiac arrhythmia secondary to severe coronary atherosclerosis.”

The autopsy found no other pre-existing lesions or evidence of a COVID-19 infection.

There was also no sign of violence, theft, or a break-in, according to the police report.

A friend found Vallée at his cabin in Berthier-sur-Mer, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, the day after his death.

When paramedics arrived on the scene they pronounced him dead.

Tributes pouring in

In the statement released late Wednesday, Vallée’s sons, Alex and Emile Vallee, say people are still getting in touch about their filmmaker father’s influence.

A legacy that includes internationally renown films like “C.R.A.Z.Y” and “Dallas Buyers Club,” as well as Emmy-award winning series “Big Little Lies.”

There are no set plans at the moment to commemorate the director’s memory, but his family has stated that something will soon be announced.

Vallée was born in Montreal.
