Body of missing Montreal teen Feng Tian found

Montreal police (SPVM) say the body of a 17-year-old who went missing in October in the Côte-des-Neiges–NDG borough, was found.

Feng Tian’s body was located in Contrecoeur, about 62 kilometres east of Montreal.

In a press release, the SPVM said that DNA tests confirmed his identity and that nothing leads them to believe foul play contributed to his death.

The Chinese Montrealer, a newcomer to Canada who did not speak French or English, was last seen walking eastbound on Saint-Jacques Street from Décarie Boulevard on Oct. 17.

The last time his mother Sujing Nie saw him was at lunch at his cousin’s place on Oct. 17 when he left to go home at 4 p.m.

Sujing received a message from her son at 9 p.m. saying he was ready to go to sleep, and she told CityNews back in January that when she got home at 11 p.m. that night, there were signs that he was already home.

With the assumption that he was sleeping in his bedroom Sujing did not check to see if he was there.

The next day she discovered he was not in his room – his backpack, money, and wallet were still in a drawer. With no response to their messages, Sujing was still hopeful she would see him at dinner. When that didn’t happen, police were alerted.
