Community groups were out demonstrating in downtown Montreal on Friday. It was a closing protest to week-long actions by L’organisation populaire des droits sociaux.
They took to the streets to express their frustrations towards policies by the Legault government.

“We really do feel like we’re being taken for granted, and we do feel like we need more,” says Diana Lombardi, spokesperson for Front régional pour l’action communautaire autonome (FRACA) de Montréal.
“We need policies that really respond to our needs,” she adds.

Each day was thematic and focused on a specific demand.
Monday’s focus was on the recognition and elimination of systemic violence, particularly economic violence, against women and marginalized people.
On Tuesday, it was status for all.
Wednesday, the focus was being able access to an income in order to get out of poverty.
Thursday’s theme was the right to housing for all.
The final rally on Friday focused on strengthening the social safety net and well-funded, accessible and free public services for all.
Friday’s event was organized by Front régional pour l’action communautaire autonome (FRACA) de Montréal.
Over 100 community organizations, round tables, unions, student associations, autonomous collectives and citizens’ groups supported the week-long protests.
