A 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was shot Tuesday evening in the Ville-Marie borough of Montreal. A 39-year-old suspect was arrested overnight.
Emergency services were called around 9:35 p.m. to the intersection of Tupper Street and Seymour Avenue. The victim, who suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body, was then transported to a hospital.

On Wednesday morning, the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) reported that the man was in stable condition at the hospital, despite the serious injuries he sustained.

The suspect in this case fled before police arrived, but was found around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday in an apartment on Tupper Street.
“A 39-year-old man was arrested during the night by police officers. He met the investigator this morning and he should appear in the Montreal court this afternoon,” said Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the SPVM.
Adding that investigators, “were looking this morning for camera footage and also to meet witnesses, but we are asking people if they know anything about this event that they can call 911 to give information so the investigation is still ongoing.”

As of early Wednesday, the circumstances surrounding the incident remained unknown or if and how the two people knew each other.
“Checks will be conducted on possible surveillance cameras located near the scene, and the investigation is ongoing,” added Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.
