SQ investigating death of 3-year-old in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, likely not criminal

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a toddler Monday morning in the Montérégie.

Emergency services were called around 9 a.m. to a residence on Chemin Larocque in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and a three-year-old boy’s death was confirmed shortly after.

SQ report that there does not appear to have been any criminal offence in this case.

However, forensic identification technicians were sent to the scene and the child’s parents were also being met by investigators.

For now, authorities do not know what may have led to the young boy’s death, but an autopsy is expected to be performed to determine the exact cause.
