21-year-old man seriously injured in east end shooting

MONTREAL – A 21-year-old man who was shot during an altercation involving multiple people late Thursday night in the east end of Montreal will survive his injuries, according to police (SPVM).

The conflict occurred in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, on Saint-Catherine Street East, near the intersection of Pie-IX Boulevard. Several people called 911 to report the incident shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found the 21-year-old man with serious upper body injuries and transported him to hospital.

The others involved in the incident had already fled the scene and no arrests have been made so far.

An investigation is ongoing.
